Around 990 Vacancies for the Scientific Assistant Post in Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) have been released by Staff Selection Commission (SSC). Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct an open competitive examination for recruitment to the post of Scientific Assistant in Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial post, in the Level 6 of the Pay Matrix as per the Recruitment Scheme formulated by the IMD.

Eligibility Criteria - Nationality

A candidate must be either:

  1. a citizen of India, or
  2. a subject of Nepal, or
  3. a subject of Bhutan, or
  4. a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India,
  5. a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka,
    East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania
    (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and
    Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Note:

  • Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (2), (3), (4), and (5) above shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued
    by the Government of India.
  • A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the Examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.

Educational Qualification for SSC Scientific Assistant (IMD) 2022

  • Candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Science (with Physics as one of the subjects)/Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Application OR
  • Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from a
    recognized Institution/University or equivalent.

Required Percentages/Marks for SSC Scientific Assistant (IMD) 2022 Exam:

  1. The qualifying Degree or Diploma referred to above should be in First Class (60% marks) or 6.75 CGPA on a 10-point scale.
  2. The qualifying Degree or Diploma referred to above must be of three
    (3) years duration after (10+2) examination.
  3. The applicant must have passed the 10+2 Examination from a Recognized Board or equivalent in Science with Physics and Mathematics as core subjects

Part II of the examination will be on the basis of the subject opted in the online application form.

  • Candidates opting for Physics will be required to attempt Physics paper,
  • Candidates opting for Computer Science & IT will be required to attempt Computer Science & IT paper,
  • Candidates opting for Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering will be required to attempt Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering paper.

    conservation of linear and angular momentum, projectiles, rotational
    motion, moment of inertia, rolling motion, Newton’s Law of
    gravitation, Planetary motion, Kepler’s Laws of Planetary motion,
    artificial satellites, Fluid motion, Bernoulli’s theorem, Surface tension,
    Viscosity, Elastic Constants, bending of beams, torsion of cylindrical
    bodies, elementary ideas of special theory of relativity.
  • Thermal Physics, Radiation & Sound: Equations of state, Ideal and real
    gases, Dalton’s law of partial pressure. Thermometry, Zeroth, first and
    second laws of thermodynamics, reversible and irreversible processes,
    Heat engines, Maxwell’s relation, Heat Capacities, Adiabatic and
    Isothermal processes, Clausius-Clapeyron relation, Thermal
    Conductivity, Thermodynamic state variables, viz., Internal energy,
    Entropy, Enthalpy, Helmholtz’s free energy function, Gibb’s free
    energy function. Vapour pressure, evaporation. Kinetic theory of
