CTET 2026 Exam Postponed: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the CTET September 2026 exam is postponed for both Papers 1 and 2. Now the CBSE has decided to reopen the online form from August 25 to September 1, 2026. So, candidates can apply; those who have already applied do not need to apply.

CTET 2026 | Application Fee

To complete the CTET 2026 application form, candidates must pay an application fee prior to final submission. Check out the application fees by category below.

Only Paper 1 or 2. 

  • Gen/OBC/EWS: ₹1000/-
  • SC/ST/PH: ₹500/-

Both Papers 1 & 2

  • Gen/OBC/EWS: ₹1200/-
  • SC/ST/PH: ₹600/-

CTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Depending on whether the candidate wants to teach classes I–V (Paper I) or VI–VIII (Paper II), the eligibility requirements differ slightly. Here is a thorough examination of the prerequisites for both phases:

CTET Paper 1 (Classes I–V)

Candidates must have:

  • Completed their Senior Secondary (10+2) with at least 50% marks, and
  • Passed or be enrolled in a 2-year D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) program.

CTET Paper 2 (Classes VI–VIII)

Candidates must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, and
  • Completed or appeared in a B.Ed program with at least 50% mark

CTET Certificate Validity

As of the latest update from the CBSE, the validity of the CTET certificate has been extended to a lifetime. Before this update, the certificate had a validity period of 7 years from the date of declaration of its result for all categories.

CTET Qualifying Marks

  • General Category: Applicants in this category must receive at least 60% of the possible points, or 90 out of 150.
  • SC/ST/OBC/Other Reserved Categories: In accordance with the government's reservation policy, candidates who fall into SC, ST, OBC, and other reserved categories are exempt from certain qualifying requirements. To be eligible for the CTET, these candidates usually need to receive 55% of the possible points, or 82.5 out of 150.

CTET 2026 Exam Pattern 

The CTET 2026 exam consists of two offline, OMR-based papers. Paper 1 (Classes I-V) consists of 150 questions divided into five mandatory sections. Paper 2 (Classes VI-VIII) contains 150 questions and replaces EVS with a 60-mark subject-specific test. Both papers last two hours and thirty minutes.
