CTET Exam Date 2026 Important Dates

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will be conducted. The first shift will be from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM and the second shift will be from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM (Tentative). CTET 2026 Notification | Application Fee

To fill out the complete CTET2026 application form, candidates have to submit an application fee before the final submission of the application form. Check out the category-wise application fee given below.

Only Paper 1 or 2 

  • Gen/OBC/EWS : ₹1000/-
  • SC/ST/PH : ₹500/-

Both Paper 1 & 2

  • Gen/OBC/EWS : ₹1200/-
  • SC/ST/PH : ₹600/-
  • Pay the Examination Fee Through Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking/ Pay Offline Through E-Challan.

CTET Exam Date 2026 Eligibility

The eligibility criteria vary slightly depending on whether the candidate wishes to teach classes I-V (Paper I) or VI-VIII (Paper II). Here’s a detailed look at the eligibility requirements for both stages:

For Classes I-V (Paper I):

  • Candidates must have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and completed or be in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
  • Or candidates with at least 50% in Senior Secondary and the final year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) or a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

For Classes VI-VIII (Paper II):

  • Graduates who have completed or are in the final year of a Bachelor in Education are eligible.
  • Or, Graduates with at least 50% marks and in the first year of Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) or candidates with 50% in Senior Secondary and the final year of a 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) or 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

CTET Certificate Validity

As of the latest update from the CBSE, The validity of the CTET certificate has been extended to a lifetime. Before this update, the certificate had a validity period of 7 years from the date of declaration of its result for all categories.

CTET Qualifying Marks

  • General Category: Candidates belonging to the general category must score at least 60% marks or more, which translates to 90 out of 150 marks.
  • SC/ST/OBC/Other Reserved Categories: The qualifying marks for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and other reserved categories are relaxed per the government’s reservation policy. Typically, these candidates must score 55% marks, equivalent to 82.5 out of 150 marks, to qualify for the CTET.

CTET Exam Pattern 2026

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will consist of two papers. Paper I will be for those who wish to teach classes I to V, while Paper II will be for those who wish to teach classes VI to VIII. All questions in the CTET will be multiple choice questions (MCQs) with four options, with one answer being the most appropriate.
