The Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS) are residential public schools run by the Ministry of Defence to provide quality education to the wards of defence personnel and civilians from classes 6th to 12th. These schools are the founding members of the Indian Public Schools’ Conference (IPSC). Established in the year 1925, these schools are among the oldest public schools in India. There are five Rashtriya Military Schools located at Chail in the Shimla Hills of Himachal Pradesh, Ajmer and Dholpur in Rajasthan, Belgaum and Bengaluru in Karnataka. The candidates are admitted into classes 6th and 9th through the RMS CET exam. The full form of RMS CET is the Rashtriya Military School Common Entrance Test. RMS CET Application Form 2026-27 for Class 6th & 9th
The RMS Common Entrance Test for admission to Classes 6th and 9th will be held in December 2025 (Expected) and is based on automated OMR and as per RMS CET 2026 Admission Notification.
- A candidate (boys or girls) for admission to RMS Class 6th must be between the ages of 10 and 12 on March 31, the year of admission.
- For admission to RMS Class 9th, a candidate (only boys) must be between the ages of 13 and 15 on March 31, the year of admission.
- Admission to Rashtriya Military School Classes 6th and 9th is based on the availability of vacancies.
- Parents/students should also be aware that all admissions are for boarders only.
RMS CET Application Fee 2026 for Class 6th & 9th
- The application form for RMS Class 6th & 9th is available for Rs 550/- (Rs 275/- in the case of SC/ST, a copy of the Caste certificate must be submitted).
- To obtain an admission form by mail, students/parents must send a self-addressed slip and a demand draft for Rs 600/- (Rs 325/- for SC/ST, plus Rs 50/- postage).

RMS CET Eligibility Criteria 2026 for Class 6th & 9th
There are certain eligibility criteria for RMS CET Admission 2026 – 2027 laid by the Rashtriya Military School. The RMS eligibility criteria encompass the age limit and educational qualification, which are discussed below:
Age limit
- RMS Class 6 Age limit- Male and Female aged between 10-12 years as of 31 March 2024 (born between 01 April 2012 to 31 March 2014, both days inclusive).
- RMS Class 9 Age limit- Male and Female aged between 13-15 years as of 31 March 2024 (born between 01 April 2009 to 31 March 2011, both days inclusive).
RMS CET Educational Qualification 2026
- RMS CET Class 6 educational qualification- The candidates should have passed Class V or be studying in Class V and pass it before the date of admission to a Rashtriya Military School.
- RMS CET Class 9 educational qualification- For admission into Class IX, the candidate should have passed Class VIII from a government/ recognized school before the date of admission to a Rashtriya Military School.

RMS CET Syllabus 2026-27
The written test will generally be of Class V standard for Class VI admission and Class VIII standard for Class IX admission. The medium of Question Paper in the Entrance exam is bilingual (English and Hindi) for Class VI and only in English for Class IX.

RMS Class 6th & 9th Interview 2026-27
After qualifying for the RMS CET written exam, the candidates will be called for personal interviews. The RMS CET interview marks for both classes are given here:

RMS CET Medical Test
All the candidates will be required to undergo a medical fitness examination before admission to the Rashtriya Military Schools as per norms/criteria as specified in AFMSF-2 and only in the hospital he has mentioned in the Application Form.
- The medical examination will be carried out at only one of the listed hospitals mentioned below with the heading “LIST OF HOSPITALS FOR CONDUCT OF MEDICAL TEST”. Candidates found medically unfit by the board of officers at listed hospitals will not be admitted.
- The candidate will also be required to remain medically fit during the course of his/her stay at Rashtriya Military School.
- The admission of the candidate will be provisional till a fitness certificate is received from the Hospital.
- NO CHANGE IN MEDICAL EXAM CENTRE WILL BE ALLOWED.

Rashtriya Military Schools Admissions 2026 admit cards will be released before the exam. The RMS admit card will be available on https://www.rashtriyamilitaryschools.edu.in/. RMS Entrance Exam 2026 Results
The RMS entrance exam 2026 results will be released in February 2026 (Expected). The results for the 2026–2027 academic session will be available on the official website after the examination is conducted.
